Job position: Research Assistant
Plasmore is looking for a Research Assistant to provide support to its R&D activities.
The candidate will contribute primarily to experimental work related to the development of plasmonic surfaces and their characterization. The main activity will consist in the optimization of micro/nanofabrication protocols to obtain robust biosensing surfaces useful for multiple detection methods (e.g. SPR, fluorescence). The main tasks will involve the study of different soft lithography techniques, interaction with project partners, contribution to dissemination/publication of results.
The candidate must have a university degree in a field relevant to the position, such as Physics, Engineering Physics, Physical-Chemistry, Materials Engineering or Biomedical Engineering. A PhD or an extensive professional experience in a relevant topic is highly appreciated.
Hands-on experience in micro/nano fabrication and nanomaterials characterization is required.
Experience in biophotonics, as well as in surface characterization techniques (e.g., spectroscopy, ellipsometry, optical and electron microscopy) is essential.
The candidate should be familiar with plasma processing (such as RIE, magnetron sputtering deposition).
Knowledge of tools for FDTD numerical simulation is appreciated.
The candidate is expected to have good communication and analytical skills, as well as good problem solving attitude.
Good command of English is highly desirable.
Experience in surface functionalization and biomolecular interaction studies is an added value.
The main Plasmore activities are carried out at the Joint Research Centre (Laboratory of Nanobiotechnology, Ispra – Italy).
The candidate must send the expression of interest together to an updated curriculum vitae to the following address: firstname.lastname@example.org.
